Doryctobracon anastrephilus (Marsh, 1970)

Remarks
This is the only species of Doryctobracon known to be endemic to the United States. It is possible that the natural ranges of both Doryctobracon crawfordi and Doryctobracon areolatus also included southern United States prior to urbanization, but both of these species are widely distributed throughout Latin America whereas D. anastrephilus is thus far known only from Florida.
Taxonomic History / Nomenclature
Initially described in the genus Parachasma (Marsh 1970), then subsequently transferred to Doryctobracon (Wharton and Marsh 1978).
Diagnosis and Relationships
This species is characterized by the complete propodeal areola, dark legs, and relatively short ovipositor (Wharton and Marsh 1978).
For additional information and key to species, see the Doryctobracon genus page.
Biology / Hosts
Hosts: Reared from Anastrepha interrupta Stone and Anastrepha suspensa (Loew) (Marsh 1970).
