Microcrasis

Remarks
Although there are only two described species in this Neotropical genus (Wharton 1980), several undescribed species are known (including those from theses as yet unpublished as of 2009). The most obvious differences among the species are in body coloration and ovipositor length.

For additional information, see the Braconidae and Alysiinae pages.

Distribution
Neotropical. Recorded from Brazil, Mexico and Colombia (Costa Lima 1937, 1938, Hernandez-Ortiz et al. 1994, Yepes and Velez 1989).
Distribution
No referenced distribution records have been added to the database for this OTU.
Biology / Hosts
At least three species have been reared from fruit, though unequivocal association with Tephritidae (Hernandez-Ortiz et al. 1994) has rarely been made. The host of the first species of Microcrasis to be reared from fruit samples (Costa Lima 1937, 1938) belonged to the family Lonchaeidae.
